I am an advocate for health and wellness. I encourage others to use their own voice and advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. Being well and healthy is something that all people should understand. I am willing to help others understand medical terms to try and make sense of their own health.

Half my career has been in Emergency Nursing, but I worked in so many other varied Nursing areas such as Clinical Instructor for Nursing and Nurses aides and Public Health Nursing. I have also been a staff educator for nursing homes and hospitals as well as educating the public in Childbirth, Infant stimulation, Pediatric CPR; first aid and Parenting classes. I was also a Phlebotomy instructor for several years. A short detour in the middle of my nursing career led me to be the county Extension Agent; recruiting youth and adult volunteers into 4-H programs and camp. I went back to school and received my Masters in Education with endorsements in Special Education and taught as an Instructional Specialist in a local Middle school for children with Special Needs. All this experience led me to my current position where I am the nurse Consultant for the HumanKind group homes for Individuals with learning and physical disabilities. Last summer I created and directed an Adult camp; for those with Learning Disabilities; called Camp Imagine, at the same 4-H center I took the County Children many years before. Everyone is looking forward to the second year at Camp Imagine in August. Humankind was just granted a second year of a grant for a health and wellness program I designed and teach to staff and Individuals at the group homes. I continue to be an advocate for those who live at the group home and attempt to empower all I meet to be an advocate for their own health and wellness. My previous relationship with the Emergency Department aids in communicating the needs of the Individuals from the group home who have to be taken there. I am continually seeking and learning where my experience can best offer to help to others.
I have always wanted to be a Nurse. I can remember telling my cousin;at the age of 4; that I wanted to be a doctor so I could fix people. He said, You cant be a doctor cause youre a girl So I made up my mind I would be a nurse. I stuck to that dream all the way and it was the best decision I made.
Faith in God, family, and passion in advocacy for her patients.
Prayer and making time to do devotionals.
Advocacy! Being the voice they dont have and teaching the staff to do the same thing.
